Born on the 15 th of December 1975 , this Sagittarian started singing at the age of nine. She matriculated in 1993 at the Pretoria art school “Pro -Arte”. During her matric year she won the Dalro National Acting competition, which awarded her Drama pupil of the year. In this same year she also won the Crescendo singing competition for best female vocalist.

She furthered her drama education at the University of Pretoria , and finished her honours degree in Drama in 1997. Jolette started working professionally when she was asked to join the group Cutt Glas in 1994, and has been working with this popular female a-capella group since. Apart from Cutt Glas, Jolette found the time to perform in various pantomimes such as “Aspoestertjie” directed by Pierre van Pletzen, “Brolloks en Bittergal” and “Spook van Donkergat” directed by Hannes Muller and Lizz Meiring. In 2003 Jolette joined forces with Ian Von Memerty, Harry Sideropoulos, and Ilse Klink in the very successful production “BIG BAND BLAST” at the Johannesburg Civic theatre. She was nominated for a Naledi award for her performance in this production. At KKNK (Oudtshoorn Arts Festival) 2004, Jolette was nominated for two productions (“Jilljol”,directed by Sandra Prinsloo, and “Hartedief”, directed by Lizz Meiring.), for best performance in musical theatre.

For the Aardklop Arts Festival 2005, Jolette worked on two exciting new productions. “Pols” directed by Christene Truter and “Imbumba” with Anna-Mart van der Merwe and Gys de Villiers. Jolette also performed as guest artist in “Songs from the Mediterranean ” with Harry Sideropoulos. In the same year, Jolette retired from the group Cutt Glas to embark on her solo career, and is currently promoting her first full debut album which was released during February 2006 The album “Jolette” consists of original material, written and composed by Jolette Odendaal herself. The covers she chose are songs (“La vie en rose”-Piaf, “In Your Eyes”-Peter Gabriel, “Ship song”-Nick Cave, and “Pata Pata”-Miriam Makeba) .

This album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Robin Walsh at his studios, and produced by Mauritz Lotz.

Some of the musicians that feature on this album include Mauritz Lotz, Annake de Villiers, Matthys Maree, Lieb Bester and Lekgoa.

Jolette has recorded a new album with renowned musician - Mauritz Lotz - KAMERS - which will be available at the end of March 2009
